'Chavs' by Owen Jones: worth a read!

All Ears - Sunday, June 24, 2012

One of the best books we have read this year is the contentious first book from Owen Jones - Chavs: The  Demonisation of the Working Class is a revealing read which discusses how the voice of the working class has been taken away and how our salt of the Earth is now regarded as the scum of the Earth.  A real socio-political eye opener; Jones explains how class hatred has become the last acceptable form of prejudice.

All Ears - Sunday, June 24, 2012

We know you can't make every event so here are a few of our favourite speakers from the last year...

Noel 'Razor' Smith has joined us twice - he is that good.  Catch his story here of how after 33 years in prison he turned his life around, taught himself to read and write and now mentors young convicts to help them find a better path.  A truly captivating story.

Bill Callaghan amused us all with his funny tales from The Tower of London.

The vivacious and hilarious Madam Becky is definitely worth a watch.  Catch her anecdotes from life in a home county brothel.

BJ Cunningham treated us to his insightful, yet down to earth and humorous story of launching Death Cigarettes and nearly overthrowing the whole tobacco industry with his 'truth in marketing' approach.  A real branding maverick.
